Pakistan’s cuisine is influenced by India and Middle East. Most of the meals are based on spicy curries or sauces. Meat plays a dominant role in Pakistan making an average of three times more than that of Indians consume.

Curries with or without meat with vegetables and lentils are commonly cooked for everyday meal. Famous Pakistan’s curries include Karahi, Kofta, Korma, Nihari and Sir paya.

Tandoori or barbeque dishes are extremely popular and is a specialty of various cities. Famous BBQ dishes include Chicken tikka, Mutton tikka, Sheekh kebab, Bihari kebab and Chakna.

All of the main dishes are consumed with rice and bread. Dishes made with rice include Biriyani and Pullao. There are varieties of bread used by Pakistanis. Like Chapattis, varieties of Naan, Paratha and Puri.

Pakistan’s cuisine is incomplete without a dessert. They have a variety of sweet dishes starting from Kheer, Kulfi, and Falooda to Gulab Jamun and various kinds of Halwa.

However, Pakistan’s cuisine varies from region to region within the country on cultural and culinary diversity. While dishes from Sindh and Punjab are extremely hot and spicy, food from northern areas are similar to Afghanistan, central Asia and Middle East.
