India is located in southern Asia, bordering the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, between Burma and Pakistan. It has a area which is slightly more than one-third the size of US. The total area is 3,287,590 sq km from which 2,973,190 sq km is land and 314,400 sq km is water. With land boundaries of 14,103 km their border countries are Bangladesh 4,053 km, Bhutan 605 km, Burma 1,463 km, china 3,380 km, Nepal 1,690 km and Pakistan 2,912 km.
India has a climate that varies in different regions of the country. From tropical monsoon in south to temperate in north.
India’s terrain is upland plain in south, flat to rolling plain along Ganges, desserts in west and Himalaya in north. While the lowest point of elevation is 0 m the highest point is Kanchen junga with 8,598 m.
Natural resources from India include coal, iron ore, manganese, mica, bauxite, titanium ore, chromites, natural gas, diamonds, petroleum, lime stone and arable land.
