India is located in southern Asia, bordering the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, between Burma and Pakistan. It has a area which is slightly more than one-third the size of US. The total area is 3,287,590 sq km from which 2,973,190 sq km is land and 314,400 sq km is water. India’s terrain is upland plain in south, flat to rolling plain along Ganges, desserts in west and Himalaya in north. While the lowest point of elevation is 0 m the highest point is Kanchen junga with 8,598 m.

Natural resources from India include coal, iron ore, manganese, mica, bauxite, titanium ore, chromites, natural gas, diamonds, petroleum, lime stone and arable land.
